Team USA has 21 athletes set to compete at the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo, with four-time slalom world champion Mikaela Shiffrin, as well as three-time giant slalom and two-time super-G world champion Breezy Johnson leading the charge. There are also many exciting names like Katie Hensien. AJ Hurt. Isabella Wright. Jett Seymour. River Radamus.

The Roc de Fer, L'Eclipse and Meribel pistes have been the focus of athletes' training. This is where both women's and men's parallel slalom race medal races will take place. This is the first competition that will split competitions between two venues. It'll be a challenging test for both men & women.

Defending luge queen Natalie Geisenberger of Germany is one to watch, as is triple-Olympic gold medalist Felix Loch from Switzerland. Both of these athletes have performed well in the luge in recent weeks, and it's a good bet that they'll start the race.

There is a lot of depth in the men's race, and Austria has two medalists in Matthias Mayer (Austria) and Vincent Kriechmayr (Austria). Despite not having won any World Cup downhill races, neither one of them has been able to win this season. However, they both have strong performances in other events and could be in position for a gold medal.

Ryan Cochran Siegle of the United States is another to watch. This American has been a star in both technical and speed races. He's a serious contender in the combined alpine and technical races, and is well placed to win his World Cup Downhill medal.

Both Sofia Vasic from Sweden and Evgeny Arbatov from Russia are expected to challenge for the super-G podium. However, they are not at their best. Their best performances were in the smaller events. If they want to challenge the Olympic champions, they'll have to find their groove at these big events.

At the FIS World Junior Championships Bansko 2021, all GB U21 Alpine skiers participated. Abi Bruce and Liv Foster put in strong performances. This is the first time that GB have had two women in the top 30 in any of the Alpine disciplines since Amanda Pirie and Chemmy Alcott were ranked in Quebec, Canada in 2000.
