Ischgl, Austria - A Big Mountain Alps Playground

snow skiing equipment

Ischgl has been voted one of the most popular Austrian ski resorts. Its large ski area, connected with Samnaun across Swiss border, offers many options for skiing and snowboarding.

You will find a lot of great off-piste, challenging pistes, and a big lift system in this big mountain Alps playground.

Idalp, the main ski area, is the heart of activity. It boasts an impressive network of snow parks and lifts as well as plenty of beginner-friendly slopes. There are plenty of freeride routes in & around the resort, as well as some great backcountry ski trails in & around Piz Val Gronda - but you have to get up early to avoid crowds on the earliest powder days.

Although it isn't as challenging or steep, the slopes are still enjoyable, even for experienced riders. You can find a wide range of terrain, and there is a long season between November and May.

Ischgl surrounds the Silvretta mountain chain, which provides some of our best skiing. There are many pistes on the north side of the mountain, with some offering views to the surrounding mountains.

Ischgl is home to over 239kms of pistes in Silvretta. This area has something for everyone, beginners and experts alike.

If you're looking for a more relaxing holiday, Ischgl offers a full range of activities, including winter hiking, tobogganing, spas and swimming. You can also enjoy the Ischgl SkyFly mega-zip wire, which will keep both children and adults busy!

Ischgl offers a modern, sophisticated feel with authentic chalets that line its streets. It's a great place to shop. There are some high-end stores, as well as good restaurants that offer traditional Tyrolean cuisine.

You can find many options for accommodation in Ischgl. These range from luxurious hotels to apartments and bed & breakfasts. The majority of accommodation is within walking distance to the slopes, shops, or village.

It is worth visiting the Ischgl art museum, which contains a fascinating collection of alpine wares as well as exhibits to tell the history of the area.

The town has undergone significant revitalization over the past few years to become a chic, fashionable alpine community. The town's pedestrian streets are filled by happy skiers and shoppers. Sidewalk cafes cover their outdoor chairs with sheepskin, making it a great place to unwind after a long day on the slopes.

Ischgl, although a small resort in Switzerland, is considered one of the most luxurious. It has a wide range of luxury hotels to fit all tastes and budgets. It is also a popular destination for families and groups, and has a good range of ski schools.

Apres ski is Ischgl's biggest draw & it's fair to say that Ischgl does apres ski better than any other resort in the Alps. It begins on Paznauer Thaya's slopes and continues to the village, just steps from the Silvretta tram.

FAQ

Which is the best place to purchase airline tickets at a low price?

You might want to look at airlines such as Jetstar, Virgin Australia and Tigerair for the best airfares.

Search online and you'll see that many of these airlines offer cheap flights as a promotional offer.

My luggage should be stored where it is safe.

There are several different options available. One of the most popular options is to use airport lockers. These are normally located near the security area. They can be purchased for between $5-10 per daily, depending upon the size of the locker.

Renting a storage unit is another option. These are often found outside large hotels or shopping centers. There are discounts available for multiple units, although prices can vary.

A third option is to hire a porter. A porter will help carry your luggage from the carousel to your room. For each porter you hire, you pay a small amount.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is important if your plans include adventure travel. In fact, you should make sure that you get cover for all types of adventure sports.

If you're skiing, for example, it is important to have medical coverage. You should also look into getting coverage for things like theft, loss, and damage.

Cover for cancellation should be considered. This allows you to cancel your holiday without having to pay any penalties.

Additionally, it is a good idea to ask for emergency evacuation coverage. In the case of an avalanche and other natural disaster, you can be evacuated from the mountain.
